In general, the Festival is an elaborate celebration outdoors. There are many in Spain. The calendar is simply overrun with them, which indicates more than one thousand different types in a single year! Spain, there is a general trend. The celebration of the holidays is performed with an explosion and force in the part of Andalusia, in comparison with the rest of the Spain. In the order of the calendar, the following events are of great importance:
January - feast of Los Reyes
This one kicks initiates the Benalmádena event for the new year. Celebrated on 5 January and it is believed that the three kings of Orient bring gifts to young children. The atmosphere is fun and lesbian, as all children get sweets and savories distributed.
February - Mardi gras Carnival
The period before the lent is always celebrated with much fanfare all over the world. Spain, however, the Carnival is over electric dotted with the mixture of cultures and tradition. Many look forward to the annual Mardi gras song and dance contests artistes to show their talent. This is either during the weekend on Tuesday (mardi gras) Carnival or the weekend before.
March/April - Easter
Holy week is one of the most important celebrations, religiously. People can all prohibited after the long fast food festival and celebrate the resurrection of the Lord. The week has more importance which is religious and one can see the reflection of the same in the costumes and decorations. Holy week is characterized by processions of the Virgin Mary and Jesus on the cross in mourning of the city by men dressed in black. It is one the most serious and important Catholic community festivals.
May / June - Corpus Christi
This is again a solemn procession to commemorate the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus. The day is and religious and acquires a State of very serious mood with government officials and ecclesiastics who participate in the procession.
Late June - day games and San Juan Festival
It's a fun day. This is a day to celebrate the games. Honey Creek celebrates. Many sporting events are organized on this day. At the same time, San Juan is held too.
July - Our Lady of Mount Carmel
All fishing villages have a deity sea saves the fury of the sea and blesses the fishermen with good catches for the year. The Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus is the deity here. There are processions, Fireworks and loads of music and dance.
August - summer fair
Benalmadena has their own summer holidays. This is the feast to the tee. There are clothing, drinking, singing, loads of food yummy and music of the week.
December - Christmas
Without another word, this is probably the most famous festival of the year.
Plan a weekend of Benalmádena and sink into the feast.
