Winter in Himachal-Shimla, Kufri Narkanda holiday

Come on vacation, be it summer or winter, we cannot simply stay away from Himalayas. We had travelled overseas in so many different places. If the rapids of the Niagara River or snow covered Mount Fuji, always we are that nothing as majestic as the powerful Himalayas there is.
So January 3, 2009, we packed our belongings and outside Shimla to an excursion day 6. Take New Delhi Shatabdi 303 kms. go to Kalka. Took about 3.5 hours to reach our destination as the train stopped at Kurukshetra, Chandigarh Ambala Panipat and finally came to a stop in from 10: 30 AM in the morning. It was cold in early January, but as we were more enthusiastic about our trip, we does not seem too uncomfortable. In fact was a little cloudy as the narrow gauge train was heading to his journey to Shimla.
Takes about 5.5 hours on path zigzags, covering a distance of 96 kms. from an altitude of 2150 ft to 6810 ft. As the train that addressed us a fast train, did not at all stations. But not when he had to cross another train down, as the track is unique. We had breaks in the Barog Dharampur Himachal and summer Hill back stations that VI about 22 years. But not these places have changed much. Especially the railway along with its 103 tunnels road are incredible experience. The longest tunnel being 1.1 kms. by Barog. Although it was not my first visit, but still I felt the same excitement as it was during my days younger. This is an unforgettable trip, everyone must have once in his life.
Because they had an early start of his house and had breakfast at Shatabdi, we had some empanadas of veg canteen Dharampur station with tea. Next stop was in Barog where sold food packaged boxes of foil on the railway platform. It was the last stop before the train arrives summer Hill, 20 minutes from Shimla.
It was 5: 45 PM when our train played their final destination. Shimla Railway station was built in 1898, but succeeded in operation from 1903, during the British rule and still bears its reputation as a national heritage. Although it is very small, now hosts a number of trains for Kalka and back.
When came out us of the station, started to drizzle. Took us a taxi to our hotel-Hotel Holiday Home, directed by HPTDC. There are quite a few HPTDC, of which we take our reservations in this accommodation. As time was not so good, ordered tea and snacks and decided to stay home.
It is a luxury that offers a magnificent view towards the cordillera (shopping centre) and the principal city hotel.
Shimla was known as the British India summer capital. Many buildings still have signs of British architecture. It has a Ridge or major commercial center with a widening place to sit and move freely. This area can make even from rail road with its church beautifully lit at night. There is an ancient library thus along with shops of handicrafts decorated wood and a number of restaurants. There is a God Hanuman temple at the top known as Temple Jakhoo ft 8100. One can watch a grip all Shimla city of 3 kms. Excursion to the top.
The next morning, the rain stopped and we found a nice sunny morning waiting for us to wish a warm welcome. Shower and breakfast, Kufri, we forced to where people enjoy snow at a much lower altitude 8250 feet. The taxi driver we found a ghodawala (a man with horses in rent) which took Rs.275 /-per person for each of their horses to climb to the top of Fagu 9075 feet and back. However, we find quite pleasant in walking in the mountains sit on these creatures. Therefore we were one of their horses as a backup for my son.
Kufri has a number to change where you can make tea or coffee with maggi and pakodas noodle shops. There is a temple at the top and an amusement park newly opened at the back, but people had fun playing with snowballs. Villagers offered paid telescopes to see Dhauladhar peaks but it doesn't matter if you don't pay the telescopic vision because as everyone is carrying out a fine camera with a telephoto lens, it really can enjoy two folds, seeing the impressive mountains and taking snapshots.
Shimla we again as the sun sets. The way we have tours was known as Glen which is only 4 km to the green hill side. away from the main town and passed through Chail where one can find an ancient Palace once belonged to King of Patiala, now becomes a lujo-Hotel Wildflower Hall hotel. Tourists wishing to spend their days in complete tranquility can stay here for a few days.
The next day we were outside Naldehra 22 kms. of Shimla FT 6745, famous for its golf field elevation. It has been a well-known golf place since the period of our rulers and keeps its name. From here one can go to Tattapani to a hot spring.
The day of our departure, we found a visit to Narkanda, a place of Shimla 65 km. Located in Tibet road, Hindustan to 8930 ft. It is famous for skiing and winter sports. People who love to play with snow, of course, everyone does, should come here. Narkanda offers a most spectacular view of the Himalayas. Generally speaking, people visit Hatu peak at a distance of 8 km. on foot. We already had to take the train to Kalka, we Narkanda 2 pm maintain our desire for Hatu, still remaining undiscovered. It may be, we will have another visit to these places, for a third time to appreciate moments of a full mission.
Return journey embarked on Sivalik G Express that stopped only at Barog, just halfway between Kalka Shimla. The train originated at 5: 45 PM reaching Kalka at 9 PM. We had a great dinner on Board together with tea and coffee. From Kalka, take Kalka mail from Delhi.
I am fond of travel in the Himalayas.I not remember how many times I've traveled there but every time I am amazed. It is not only its mightiness which I hypnotizes, is beautiful and attractive for me, no matter how many times I visit. It is like my first love that never dies.So I much travelled most parts of Himachal Pradesh, there are still some remaining parts, which I would like to cover along with a trip to Leh, next year.
